Today I unsubscribed from an email list I’ve been on for four years. San Diego Toyota has been sending me weekly emails since January 2006, emails that I immediately delete. How many times have I seen that little (1) on the tab of my gmail account and been excited, only to find that Toyota newsletter? Let’s not get bogged down in the math. But, okay, let’s: 52 weeks in a year. 4 years of the newsletter. Plus four full months this year, plus the first three weeks of this month. So 227. 227 deleted emails. 227 switched tabs. 227 false hopes.
It took me a millisecond to unsubscribe. The present self is lazy. The past self is an idiot. The future self is regretful.
